The OldPal Rear Support Dog Wheelchair holds up your dog's back end so they can walk, sniff and explore on their front legs again. It is made for dogs with hind leg weakness, arthritis or degenerative myelopathy, and for senior dogs who have started to struggle on walks.
Built around comfort. The padded harness carries your dog's weight through the hips and chest rather than the spine, and every strap adjusts so the chair fits your dog's shape. The frame height is set so the back legs hang free or lightly brush the ground. Your dog can squat and go to the bathroom while in the chair.
Light, durable frame. A lightweight aluminium frame on all-terrain wheels, for daily strolls, the backyard and everything in between.
Sizes for every dog. Five frame sizes cover rear leg heights from 3 to 27 inches:
To measure, lay your dog on their side and measure from the top of the hip straight down to the toe pad, letting the leg rest at its natural bend.
Fit Guarantee. If the size you ordered doesn't fit, you can exchange the frame for the size that does.
Care and shipping. Wipe the frame with a damp cloth and hand wash the harness in mild soap. Mini, Small and Medium chairs arrive within 1 to 2 weeks, Large and XL within 2 to 3 weeks. We ship to the continental US only.
Measure your dog's rear leg height: the distance from the top of the hip straight down to the toe pad.
It is easiest with your dog lying on their side. Let the leg rest at its natural bend rather than pulling it straight, or the measurement comes out long and you end up a size too big.
Yes, and for a lot of dogs it gets easier. The harness holds the back end up without closing anything off, so your dog can squat and relieve themselves while they are in the chair.
Dogs who spend most of the day lying down tend to go less often. Being upright and walking again usually helps things work the way they should.

Wipe the aluminum frame down with a damp cloth after muddy or sandy walks, and check the wheels for grit while you are there.
Hand wash the harness in mild soap and warm water, then air dry it fully before the next use. A damp harness is what causes rubbing, not the chair itself.
Most dogs take to a wheelchair within a few short sessions, and plenty are walking on their own in the first day or two. Senior dogs are no slower at it than young ones.
Start indoors on a flat, non slip floor, keep the first sessions to five or ten minutes, and reward every attempt. Once your dog works out that the wheels follow them, most of the hesitation goes.
